Abstract

Chlorella vulgaris is a widely used object of research in chemistry and ecology due to its high content of protein, pigments and other biologically active substances. A crucial aspect of successful cultivation is the chemical modification of nutrient media aimed at improving cell metabolism and increasing productivity.

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of chemical modification of Tamiya, Bogdanov, and BG-11 nutrient media on the growth, biomass, and chemical composition of Chlorella vulgaris, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of urea and iron nanoparticles in enhancing biomass and microalgae growth.

During the study of the physical parameters of cultivation, it was determined that the optimal growth of microalgae occurred at a temperature of 28±2°C, a light phase of 16 hours followed by an 8-hour dark period, humidity of 29–31%, and a CO2 concentration supply of 0.03%.

The influence of the chemical composition of different nutrient media showed that the Bogdanov medium was optimal for achieving maximum growth and biomass of Chlorella. When modifying the nutrient medium, the optimal urea dosage was found to be 5 g/L for obtaining protein biomass. The optimal concentrations and ratios of components for increasing Chlorella biomass were determined to be 33,7х10-3 М FeCl3×6H2O:0,15% chitosan.

A positive effect of optimal physicochemical parameters of chlorella cultivation modification on the composition of biologically active substances was established: crude protein 47±2%, chlorophyll a 29.39±0.33 mg/g, chlorophyll b 35.96±0.15 mg/g.
